Marjorie McConnell, Senior Program Manager

Marjorie's primary responsibilities with CREST and the Network Office are to coordinate the management of the major projects including the accounting oversight of the grants and contracts. She also coordinates the periodic/annual reports and acts as liaison to critical UNM departments with the proposal preparation and award process.
Marjorie's most recent professional role was as Senior Contract and Grant Administrator in the Office of the Vice President for Research, UNM. She was an official University designee who approved proposals for external funding consideration. Those agencies included a variety of federal agencies such as the National Science Foundation, Department of Energy, National Institutes of Heath, as well as State of New Mexico entities and assorted non-profit organizations.
Marjorie is a Certified Research Administrator, with 15 years of direct experience in grant, cooperative agreement and contract management. She also holds a Master's degree in Social Science from Utah State University, and is completing her doctorate in Medical Sociology from UNM. Her dissertation involves measuring infectious disease prevention outcomes for hantavirus in collaboration with public health officials of Chile, Panama, and the US along with interdisciplinary teams of ecologists and medical personnel that measure hantavirus prevention outreach.
